Are You Strong Or Weak?

It is not your ability to go to the gym and lift weights, rather, it is the strength of your character. Where does your strength come from? Have you ever thought about that or do you just take it for granted?

A spiritual foundation for your strength

Being a strong person means that you do the right thing when no one is looking.

Your standards do not change when the going gets tough. The rules must be followed today, but tomorrow, you have a party to go to and you are thinking of breaking the rules. It is not okay to bend the rules a little in order to get to the party. Following the rules is a sign of respect and consideration for your employer, even when it impacts your life.

Courage is doing right even when afraid

Being strong is doing the difficult thing even when you are afraid. Perhaps you witnessed inappropriate behavior at work between a co-worker and their immediate supervisor, you want to report it; however, you are afraid you may get your co-workers in trouble and/or lose your job.

Being strong is trusting God to protect you and provide a way, even when you don’t see how things can possibly turn around in your favor.

What are your beliefs? Who do you believe in?

Most people will say their character strength comes from their spiritual beliefs. The foundation of which was laid down by their parents, who took them to church on Sundays and made them read the Bible and say their prayers every night before going to sleep and every morning upon waking up.

You do the right thing because you know that by doing so you honor God for the love he showed you by allowing his son, Jesus, to die on the cross at Calvary to pay your sin debt in full. If you do not believe in God, you will probably not be able to relate to this; however, even the people who do not believe in God, believe in something and that belief is where they get the strength to fuel their actions (behaviors).

To be the best you possible, requires that you have a foundation built on the four pillars of health, with emphasis on the spiritual pillar. Your spiritual beliefs give you strength to keep going when setbacks occur; when you slip up and make unhealthy food choices; when you feel emotionally down; or your finances are a mess and you have no idea where the money will come from to pay the rent.

THE STRENGTH TO PERSEVERE COMES FROM YOUR FAITH.
