What Differentiates A Successful Person From An Unsuccessful Person?

First let’s get clear about what success means. Success is a relative term. You are successful if you accomplished the goal or goals you set for yourself. Too many people think of being successful as someone who is wealthy. That may be so because that was the goal they set for themselves. However, it could also be that they became wealthy as a by-product of their ability to successfully accomplish their goals. A successful person is consistently willing to choose what serves their TOTAL HEALTH.

What Is The Goal That Keeps Eluding You?

The first thing you need to do is gain clarity about why you want to achieve that goal. Why on an emotional level is that goal important to you? Then you have to accept that there will be sacrifices that you have to make to achieve that goal. The idea that you can snap your fingers and achieve your goal only works in the movies. The reality is that to accomplish anything, you need to work at it. What I came to realize is, you also need to learn how to work smarter. Be more effective in achieving your goal.

Doing The Same Thing Will Not Work

If your goal is to lose weight, you have to change some thing or some things in your life. Yet, before you panic, remember my motto, “break in into bite sized pieces.” Choose SMALL steps that you can handle and be consistent with. Make it enjoyable for you. Example, if you don’t like a structured workout in the gym but you enjoy hiking, or walking, then hike or walk as often as you can. Why you eat is as important as what and when you eat. Change how you think and feel about your weight. Learn to love yourself no matter what weight you are RIGHT NOW. Believe that every unhealthy habit can be changed. Finally, examine your relationship with food.

Be Discerning When You Ask For Help

Sad but true, not everyone is interested in your goal. Certainly, not everyone in interested in helping you achieve your goal. Yet, there are still many people who genuinely want to see you live your full potential. I thank my mother for so many things. One of the most important lessons she taught me earlier on in life is that what I have was gifted to me by God. As a result, it is my responsibility to share that gift with others. She believed and instilled in me that what God has for you, no one can take away. Thus, I have always been generous in helping others and sharing my knowledge. In fact, I quite enjoy sharing my blessings. That does not mean that I let people take advantage.

Have Clarity And Be Honest About Your Motives

Accomplishing your goal should never be at the expense of anyone else. Your emotional state matters, therefore, do the work necessary to elevate your emotional state. Get a healthier perspective about the word successful. Finally, there are some hard truths that you must come to grips with:

  1. You have to love yourself unconditionally
  2. You must BELIEVE in your worth
  3. Realize that you live your BEST YOU when you have TOTAL HEALTH
  4. TOTAL HEALTH requires making moment to moment healthier choices
  5. You have to be willing to say ‘NO’
  6. Change the way you think and feel about HEALTH
  7. Get out of the auto-pilot mode and start making deliberately conscious choices.
  8. Regain control of your mind so that you can regain control of your body.
